Hey all, moving down to the Harvest area later this year from a rural town below Nashville, and have been looking into the various recreation options in the area. When scrolling around on google maps with "cycling" turned on, there is supposedly a pretty long "trail" along Limestone Creek, but having driven over the creek, I see no evidence of a trail, nor can I find anything online about it. Anyone know if this is a future trail planned, or just a mistake? Or is it there and I am blind? Thanks!

Maybe you're thinking of the Indian Creek Greenway. It starts at the south end at Old Madison Pike just east of Slaughter, and then goes north to at least Farrow Road. My family and I used to use it a lot when we lived in Madison.

No, I've noticed before when looking at Google Maps, there is a path marked (dashed line) labeled Limestone Creek Trail. You can spot it south of Limestone Penitentiary, runs along Limestone Creek going south. According to what I read, it is a proposed greenway that is supposed to start there and go to Wheeler Refuge. But nothing yet.

No, I know the Indian Creek Greenway. This one is farther west. This link should show the full duration of it on google maps (using cycling as the method of travel). https://www.google.com/maps/dir/34.8...!1e3?entry=ttu

Proposed makes sense. Would this be a Limestone County project? I would love to reach out to someone to see if it is still a possibility for the future.

Yes, it's a possibility in the future, but on the City of Huntsville's 2024 Greenway Map, its color is yellow, which means that it's in the 5+ years category - In Alabama, it realistically means 10 years, if you're lucky, especially when it comes to highways. The City is more motivated to connect existing trails, before starting totally new trails. For example, there is one section of the Indian Creek Greenway located north of US 72 (University Dr.) in The Village of Providence, and another section which starts at Old Madison Pike and goes north for about 2.5 miles before it ends. It's about a mile between the two sections but they have to go under US 72 to connect them.

While the Indian Creek Greenway has been mentioned, another trail option not too far from Harvest is the Wade Mountain Greenway located off Pulaski Pike near the Toyota Engine Plant. This greenway starts out paved but then becomes a trail as you proceed up Wade Mountain.

Well, that master plan gave me something to search for, thanks!

To anyone else searching, here is the greenway master plan: https://bigpicturehuntsville.com/pla...y-master-plan/

And here is the proposed bikeway master plan: https://bigpicturehuntsville.com/pla...d-bike-routes/

If that all comes to fruition, this will be a wonderful area for cycling, which I would love.
