hurricane hugo 1989 was a long and violent storm that had winds of 200+ mph. hurricane hugo was terring up our house chunk by chunk as we rode out the storm in the maser bathroom. and then a gust that was brobably 200+ mph tore a major truss beam that went thru a concrete block wall in the bathroom and sent concrete blocks down on us. i took the brunt of the blows recieving a broken ankle. my brother almost took a direct blow to the head with a chunk of concrete that weighed at least 300 pounds. and that would have been instant death! my mom took a blow to her leg and recived a hematoma and was ok but. with all of that we were still lucky because a section of wall fell in the adjasent room that weighed at least 2000 lbs and not in the bathroom .if it had fallen in the bathroom we all would be dead including the dog . i do beleave that every single resident on the island of st croix beleaved in some sort of god the night of hugo i am not one for praying much but i prayed a lot that night. hey and i still love hurricanes but realy realy hate the aftermath

I dont know. this does remind me of something earlier. When I was heading towards Indianapolis on I-70 we passed a U-haul with a van in tow that said No Hurricane Tour 2009!! So I am guessing they were moving up here to escape the hurricanes
