12"-20" of rain is predicted for the Long Island and Lower Manhattan area. In addition, as the storm moves into this area the storm surge is supposed to be around 8 foot high on the Hudson River.
If you have a boat docked at the Manhattan Yacht Club I wish you luck...because you will need it. If you live in Battery Park I'd suggest you stay with family or friends somewhere inland on higher ground.
This could get very, very interesting as the storm makes its way northward toward rain drenched soil, thousands upon thousands of acres of concrete, tall buildings and many millions of people.
Nothing is more frightening to me than threat of tornados. I have seen a big one, in Illinois once, as a child. I would evacuate just to be away from the threat of that alone.
