Just wondering about the classic/ old car people in the area (CDA). I am also interested in going to the drag races. Any local car club members here? I am interested.

Checking in for results here. I own a GM performance tuning business in San Diego, with CDA on my short list of places to relocate to and would love to hear about the local scene.

I have been meaning to get over to Spokane Raceway but have not made it yet. I don't think there is anything in NID for drags. There is a little 1/4 mile oval in Stateline that has some things going on. As far as classic cars, oh boy they come out of the woodwork once it warms up a bit. There are weekends when there are 10 different events going on the same time in the area. Car d'lane is a good one. There is Lost in the 50s in Sandpoint. Depot Day in Wallace, the shows are all over the place. I belong to the Spokane Corvette Club. We go to various shows and ride around and do an occasional autocross at the Deer Park airport. There are a bunch of clubs around.

Hey Justin I am walking away from a 27 year old automotive business that I started from scratch. I have wanted out of Ca. for a wile now, and pulled the trigger on a house late last year in NID. The place is beautiful, but much more than that are the sane like minded conservative people of NID, and the feel of freedom that Idaho has in general. Unfortunately the sane conservatives in Ca. have been given no other choice but to vote with their feet and leave. I am in the process of moving right now. I have awesome neighbors in NID that have been an immense help, and relief in taking care of, and watching my house until I am finished moving. I am honestly scared to death to have to start over in a new place, but I can't stand what has happened to Ca. and I refuse to put up with it any longer, plus my kids have a lot better prospect of starting out with a modest first home when they get married in Idaho, and it is a way better place to raise kids in my opinion. ( I have 9 of them)

Almost everyone in cda has a classic car of some sort. I used to joke that it is a requirement to live here. Some of them are like a museum piece. Some are just the car that is driven daily. Car d'lane weekend is where they all get show cased. They drive all around town on Friday and park along Sherman Ave. on Sat. It is great fun.

I will have to try and get one of my classics up there in time for Car D'alene. Do you know when that is?

if you ever make a long road trip down here, IF has a Corvette club and a bunch of hot rodders, as does Pocatello. Events and runs are held here during the summer in both towns.

While I'm not involved with any of them, I believe there's a hot rod specialist shop here in I.F. now. Every time I go by the place, there's a lot of restored GTOs and similar stuff around, and often a rod or two.

We really enjoyed the area when we visited in January and will be back for another round of evaluation in July. Hope to be away from the CARB madness here by this time next year.

With a 2.5 year old now and at least one more planned in the future, I also look forward to saving the money that would otherwise have gone to private school thanks to the agenda-driven public curriculum. Everything I've read suggests that we'll have no issues up that way with schooling.

Our paths may cross some day up that way. Are you opening another similar business in ID?
