It was within the context of a State of the Union, not the United States.

Since immigration falls under the purview of the Federal government, not the State, they cannot be considered “citizens” anywhere in this country, regardless of context. As long as they are here in violation of our laws, they are aptly classified as illegal aliens. Illegal "citizen" is simply another ridiculous PC term.

A State may consider a person a citizen of that sovereign State and not necessarily the Union.

Within the United States of America, they are illegal aliens. No State has the authority to change their immigration status. Again, you can call them undocumented, migrants, future Americans, pending citizens, or whatever you choose, it does not change the fact that they are here in violation of federal laws, and they are ILLEGAL.

They're citizens of another country and they're here illegally. CT media is obviously too confused with PC to get it right LOL

The several States of the Union have no basis to care if someone is from out of state or from out of State (since 1808); otherwise you may need a passport to go from state to state in the US.

Oooooo, Foreign! Sounds like a hateful, biased term to me! Let's not use that word, either!

Complete and utter nonsense. They may be considered an illegal “resident” of a state, but only the federal government can change their immigration status from illegal alien to legal resident or naturalized citizen. They aren’t slaves. There are no “free” states for illegal aliens.

A person can be a citizen of a State and still renounce their US citizenship; hypothetically.

And, pigs can fly if you believe it. Give it up, no state can confer citizenship. Illegal aliens are ILLEGAL in ALL states.
