CALIFORNIA ALERT!

AB 976 would prohibit cities and counties from fighting illegal immigration!
In the wake of the federal government's failure to stop illegal immigration, many states and municipalities are passing laws to address the problem in their communities.

California, unlike other states, has refused to step forward and take action. Now the California legislature wants to take away the ability of towns to take action against illegal immigration.

AB 976 (Charles Calderon-Montebello) would bar cities and counties from passing ordinances that prohibit property owners from renting properties to illegal aliens. It would also prohibit property owners from making any inquiries regarding the immigration or citizenship status of a tenant.

This doesn't surprise me. I wonder if Arnold would sign it?

The real danger here is that when California does this it de facto legalizes these border violators. The next step will be the invasion of nearby states who after a while will pass similar legislation.

I got tired of fighting this BS, and not having my vote count for anything.
I’m out of CA now and I don’t miss anything other than some friends, that I hope will see the light soon and join me in America.
CA is soooooooooooooo played out.

just b/c a majority of californians is opposed to it does not mean that it stands no chance of passing. the assembly has swung heavily to the left in recent years, which is sometimes good and sometimes bad. this would definitely adversely affect the calif taxpayer. everybody should call their assemblyman to strongly voice his/her opinion against this destructive bill. go to congress.org if you don;t know who the assemblyman is.

Anyone remember Prop. 187? It passed overwhelmingly when Wimpy Wilson was Gov. The courts overthrew it and told the citizens tough.

We voted it in but were railroaded, and we still want our state back.

Thanks Kele. Easy, AB976 is at bottom of page of issues/legislation, your zip code will bring up your assemblyman. Another measure to subsidize illegal immigration appeared with an automatic letter against it to send.
