Rodríguez is one one of several outspoken Democrats who believe Gov. Rick Perry's call to abolish "sanctuary city" policies in Texas would discourage potential witnesses from cooperating with law enforcement.

"Cooperation by witnesses and victims with law enforcement is essential for El Paso and communities across the state to remain safe," a Rodríguez aide said in a statement. "If they fear they may be jailed, however, witnesses and victims will be less likely to work with law enforcement."

This is why the Texas budget is such a mess. They now want to cut services to Americans but keep allowing illegals to come on over and demand their free health care and food stamps.
Many thousands of people are crossing into Texas - not for jobs any more because there are no jobs, but now they claim they are scared of growing violence in the country they wish to abandon.
El Paso, Texas manages to come out on top as the safest large city in the United States – a distinction due in no small part to the trust law enforcement authorities in El Paso County have built between themselves and the largely Mexican immigrant community, said Sheriff Richard Wiles.
“We’ve worked years and years to build up that trust,” Wiles said. “If the people who live in our community are afraid to talk to us, they won’t report crimes when they’re victims or witnesses.”
Its the right of the people of Texas to decide whats best for Our state; and I'd rather follow the recommedations of our LEOs that are out there dealing with this on a daily basis...than blow-hards without a clue.
This will bill will pass in Texas as soon as they figure out how to make granite float in water........
