Unbelievable that her mother never told her she is here illegally in this country and unbelievable that she could reach the status of a detective. What kind of papers did she have? What kind of scrutiny and background check did she go through that wouldn't reveal her illegal status in this country? Simply amazing.
I just read that story. It sounds to me that Ms Figueroa was snookered by her mom about being born in Mexico, not the US.
I'm NO fan of amnesty but; if it can be PROVEN that she did NOT willingly commit fraud, I'd amnesty her. Tho she's maybe 1 out of 100 illegal aliens who'd "pass" muster.
Certainly this case would not justify the blanket amnesty being promoted by the politicians and illegals.
How did this woman obtain a social security number? Was she committing felony document fraud and using a stolen social security number? Did her mother obtain the stolen social security number for her? It seems her mother belongs in prison if so.

According to the story the woman did not know she was an illegal alien. I guess her mother lied to her all these years. My guess is that her mother obtained a forged Texas birth certificate for her and a fake or stolen SS/ID sometime during her lifetime. Her mother is to blame for this mess but these kids brought here by their parents illegally rarely blame them. Instead they usually just demand that since they are already here that we should legalize them. By doing so IMO that is just rewarding the parents for what they did. It sets a precedence that just get your kids over our border and they are home free.

It's very possible. She probably had a fake SS card and when she became an adult she just assumed it was a real one. It's not something you have to renew. And she wouldn't have needed to prove citizenship at school.

Unfortunately, making present employees pass e-verify is not in any plan in congress. Why is that? Sure, it's nice to be able to weed out illegal aliens as job prospects but what about the millions that are already employed? I'd sure like to know the answer to that one.
