Inexcusably, House and Senate negotiators have removed the $3 billion needed to build the authorized Border Fence between the U.S. and Mexico. Sign the petition below to the Democratic leaders of Congress and President Bush, asking them to restore the $3 billion funding to the DHS Appropriations Bill and actually build the fence. HURRY AND SIGN! CONGESS TO FINALIZE THIS ACTION BEFORE DEC. 21!
Thank god....I've been more concerned about the wildlife not having free access then the illegals....which a fence is not going to stop....seeing as an ocean doesn't have much effect either. That fence is a waste of money.

SIGNED, Crittersitter . . . Thanks for posting this one.
I just signed it, too...Anyone interested in gaining a broader perspective on how illegal immigration affects the environment may want to visit capsweb.org.
Thanks Critter, I signed it. The right fence will stop illegals just as in Israel and China, and the Border Patrol said the current fence on CA border is to delay illegals for capture.
Hearing about this story just confirms the idea that there must be some really powerful business interests in this country behind the open-borders policy.
I wasn't addressing my post to you, astro, but to those genuinely interested in understanding the link between population and the environment. The site belongs to a non-profit, Californians for Population Stabilization, which was founded by professors by UCSB and other intellectuals. They list numerous studies and statistics, many of which stem from federal and state agencies...If you're afraid that people might visit this site and suddenly want the borders closed, you have nothing to fear: Most people on this board already feel that way.

Thanks for the link, blue pekoe
I looked into capsweb a little bit and I followed the connections back to Roy Beck and then to John Tanton again.
That Tanton guy funds an awful lot of the groups that show up on 'anti-illegal' lists.
I'll look a little more and let you know what I find. Seems it's not just an 'environmental' organisation.....
