For those of you who are in favor of Amnesty, why? Why are you fine with granting citizenship to those who chose to immigrate here illegally? I just want to understand the rationality of those you who are on the other side of the illegal immigration debate.
You ask a valid question. Since when is it a good idea to reward law-breakers? But the bigger question is why so many in this country, especially those in Washington, seem so unconcerned with the economic impact of allowing this massive influx of people who live "off the grid" until it comes time for tapping into our services? Personally, I resent like heck paying taxes to support a government that thinks it's perfectly fine to take my money and give it to people, in the form of education, medical care, housing etc.) who have no business being in the country in the first place. I have always been told that charity begins at home and there are certainly enough legal citizens who need our support that we shouldn't have to divert those resources to accomodate people who are breaking the law every day just by being here.
Well if hes not in favor of solving the border problem..then hes in favor of leaving it open!
Its all about the vote.....20 million illegals given amnesty....going to vote Dem.
The part I find sick..is how fast American citizens are willing to screw there country up with 20 million "more" low ed/low wage people

The radical left wing progressive amnesty democrats who control the party, will do anything in Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals to stay in power and keep forcing their radical left agenda down America's throats, including subverting the American voting process by trying to amnesty 20 plus million illegal alien future democratic voters, if amnestied.
Those 47% of America's lower class who don't pay any income taxes are....yes, mostly DEMOCRATIC voters. Wake up democratic sheeple.

Going out on a limb here....you're a democrat. Well, I'm a conservative not a republican. However, if a CIR amnesty bill passes this year it will have EVERY repubican politician voting AGAINST the bill and enough democratic politicians voting FOR the bill in a straight partisan vote to pass CIR amnesty. Yes, blame it on the democrats.

I don't know anyone who is in favor of amnesty for illegals. Democrat OR Republican. It was tried in 1986 and, if I'm not mistaken, it was a Republican deal ala John McCain (with a good deal of flip flopping), et al here in AZ, and Ronald Reagan signed the bill. Very few took advantage of it so why should they be given a second chance? I doubt you'll find many who ARE in favor of amnesty for illegals.

Then why is the current Congress run by far left radical amnesty democratic politicians trying to get CIR amnesty passed in Congress with an amnesty president to sign such a bill. Please don't bring up what the parties did in the past. As in all politics it's what politicians are CURRENTLY doing that counts.

Although there are a lot of immigration reform proposals on the table, virtually everyone agrees that they don't support amnesty. This is fine; a transitional citizenship arrangement has no more to do with amnesty than civil unions do with same-sex marriage, or mainstream affirmative action policies do with racial quotas. But I do support amnesty. Here's why.
Let’s begin by acknowledging a cold, brutal fact: We would never see 12 million undocumented Ph.D.-holding white multimillionaires in the United States, and if we did, granting them citizenship would not be a national debate. Our noble leaders in Washington would have made citizens out of them right away. So this is not really about "the rule of law," or at least not just about "the rule of law."
We as Americans are afraid of bad things happening: For example, Conservatives are afraid that an influx of Latino voters will give the Democratic Party an invincible majority in our elected government. But I think the greatest fear, the most pervasive fear, is a very different fear. It's the fear of the unknown!
Do you logically & logistically think it's possible to remove over 15 million undocumented immigrants from the USA and keep them out considering our immigration laws are in complete and utter shambles?
Any form of Amnesty will not suffice or alleviate the problem unless enforcement of current immigration laws such as protecting our Nations borders is part of the agenda.
I have no problem with having an Amnesty for todays undocumented immigrants for those who can pass a background check and comply with many of the requirements of our Naturalization system. I however would never support a blanket Amnesty.
But let's not lose sight of this simple fact: The 12 million people we're talking about are already living here, and we're doing okay, aren't we?
Aren't you still proud to live in this country?
Don't you still feel fortunate to live in this country?
Has your quality of life been negatively impacted by undocumented immigration?
America is still America, and America will still be America whether our 12 million undocumented immigrants are granted citizenship or not.
So as we continue this cultural debate, let's exorcise two demons from it. The first is the idea that this is simply about "the rule of law," because it isn't. The second is unarticulated fear.
Amnesty is not going to raise the dead, and not doing anything about illegal immigrants is not going to raise the dead.
Lets stop the fear mongering. American will stay America no matter what!
