Considering it is rapidly gentrifying, within walking distance of United Center and Illinois Medical District, rather safe.

The realigned douglas 54/Cermak branch of the Blue line that now follows Paulina and takes the Green Line to and around the loop.

After 48 years of reaching downtown via the Dearborn subway, back to using the Loop elevated, as God (well, Yerkes) originally intended.

The gentrification basically stops at Ogden right now, so a few blocks east of Ashland. There are a couple of public housing properties around there, and of course United Center is basically a concrete wasteland most of the time. It's not terrible but I wouldn't linger about after dark.
