Hello. My husband and I are interested in the Floyds Co. and Clark Co. IN areas to live and best schools. Any shared information would be great.

What grade levels? Floyd County and New Albany High Schools are among the best in the area. Both have great facilities and teachers. I'm not sure about younger grades, but I'll ask around. Jeffersonville HS has a scarey rep though. I don't know what it's really like, I just know that as a kid I wasn't allowed to go their football games and as a student teacher I was advised not to work there.

There are a lot of thugs at Jeff. New Albany has it's share too. Overall it's not really that bad but it's definitly not a majority of clean cut nice people. I graduated from New Albany HS and I never had any problems with the thug types that were around. As long as you mind your own business and try to avoid them as much as possible they will leave you alone. I even played basketball with them sometimes and it's not like they are going to just kill you out of the blue or something..

We just left New Albany (for a job) after living there for 9 years. Grantline Elementary is 5 star, an outstanding school. Scribner Middle and New Albany High School give excellent education, my girls took all honors courses and are a full year or more ahead of the schools where we relocated to. We have a beautiful home for sale or lease, just off Charlestown Rd, the up and growing retail area. Our back yard is wooded, on a cul-de-sac. Very safe and friendly, lovely neighborhood. would you like more info on New Albany or our home?

One other option you might consider are the parochial schools, of which there are many fine one. I was born and raised in New Albany and attended Catholic schools. Many of them in the area are Blue Ribbon schools. Good luck

My husband attended New Albany HS, and I went to Jeffersonville...Our kids went a local parochial school during there primary years, and then attended Jeff high...I don't have a clue as to why it has a bad rep, as I never had a problem there in the 70's, nor have any of kids recently...2 have graduated, with one taking all honors classes and receiving a full academic scholarship to college, and the other receiving a full athletic scholarship, so the opportunities are there!!...My husband and I don't see any difference in the two schools as far as their demographics, but apparently others do...Jeff perhaps has a bit more of an "urban" feel to it maybe, but I always felt my kids were just fine there.
