How can I keep Jimmy Wales' depressing mugshot from appearing whenever I open a Wiki page? I have even donated and as I use Wiki pages on technology topics quite a lot when doing job-related research, I am a bit sick of that face, frankly

Wikipedia is non-commercial. You get their support solicitations instead of ads. Would you rather have an ad with audio automatically starting and blaring through your speakers every time you go to Wiki?
On Google Chrome you can install the extension called Goodbye Jimmy Wales to get rid of this message. Firefox users can use the add-on called Wikipedia Appeal Remover to get this done.

Nights, I use Firefox with Captain Morgan add-on, I don't see any Jimmy Wales or anyone odd popping-up on my browser. Occasionally I see purple monkeys or flying white elephants in my room but by then I am no longer browsing on the Internet...

I don't know any site which uses speakers, not even commercial ones.
Since I am sure Wiki sets cookies just like any other site, they could limit the display of that nagging header to the first Wiki visit per browser session.
When someone gets on my nerves, they are less rather than more likely to get something from me...
