I just opened a PCMag article and there was a popup in the middle, one in the lower right, and a new tab opened with a third ad, for IBM.

Great work, geniuses.

Personally, I'd prefer that websites put up a paywall rather than popup ads. WSJ.com does a good job at this.

Ads I don't have a problem with, pop ups I do especially real pop ups or pop unders. The on page ads that pop up I can live with as long as they have clear way to close them.

Pop-ups and pop-unders ruin the experience. There are better ways to do ads than those.

It isn't just pop-ups. I no longer bother with any CNN videos or videos on a lot of tv station websites because of the ad entries. It takes a bit to get me interested enough to spend a minute watching something I could read in ten seconds. Add a 30 second waste of time in front of that and I'm gone.

Wouldn't it be nice if CNN just offered a premier subscription to skip the ads?
