A Greek default would be great news and probably also be great for its citizens. Iceland is doing very well after defaulting. Good GDP growth and low inflation. Come to think all countries should probably default asap to repeat the success story in Iceland.

There are various articles about Iceland that detail a less than rosey outcome that makes sense to me. Here is one

Wow. This story about Iceland’s “recovery” is a complete lie.

Iceland has very high debt. They're likely to run into problems again.

The problem isn't the Greek exit, it's what happens to the next tier of countries on the bottom end.

The people Portugal want to end the austerity stuff.

After that, there are a couple of big ones:

Spain & Italy.

All of these countries are basically sacrificing their whole millennial generations so that their boomer and older generations - especially government retirees - can have all the benefits they were promised, but were conveniently never paid for by anyone.

They need a Northern Euro and Southern Euro.

After they see what happens to Greece, I doubt Portugal or Spain or any other country will want to also exit.

Sorry but as much as I hate Forbes for being a paid shill magazine for / from the 1%, but if even they tout Iceland as a success even though it goes against their own ideological line then it must be credible (other than this "sovereign" guy): Iceland's Stabilized Economy Is A Surprising Success Story - Forbes
Greece needs to default asap and then all other countries too. Germany defaulted after WW2 as well and look how they rose from the ashes. It works.

You don't have to be sorry. Iceland's success isn't as rosey as most hold it out to be

Greece can default and they'll be in the same situation again. They need a cultural change.

It worked for Germany, why not for Greece? BTW thank you for allowing Germany to default in 1948 when you guys wrote off the pre-war debts to Germany. It worked wonders for my country. Please don't make this depending on culture or race. It would be kind of ironic to let Germany default right after the Nazi regime but deny the same to "lazy southern" cultures.

Because Germany is now an economic powerhouse.

Greece got to the position it is in because of extreme corruption, from the highest level down to granny in the rocking chair. They've shown no sign of being able to do better. They complain because they're in a lousy situation with nobody but themselves to blame.

Let them declare bankruptcy. But kick them out of the EU at the same time.
