As far as I can tell Roku just blew it out of the park, way ahead on revenue and EPS - but CNBC has not announced it yet, and hence the price is barely up after hours ($2). I would think it will go a lot higher - unless there is some metric I don't know about.
Total net revenue rose 57% to $156-million, expectations were for $146-million. EPS came in a $0.0 ... but estimates were for a loss of $0.15
I guess with Netflix down some expected Roku might have bad news, but it is up now, $5 - still I do not think CNBC has reported it yet (weird -not on web site). You could have bought after hours $3 cheaper.
Never even knew they were public. Chart looks pretty flat over the last year - plus. How will they continue making money as more and more TV's are embedded with various smart TV capability? Who will need to buy a "Roku" in the future?

That's what I was thinking. I gave my roku away once I got rid of my old plasma and upgraded to a new TV. You can also get a off brand Android version for less money with more capabilities.
I didn't realize their strength for a long time, either. These days many TVs come with streaming built in - but it turns out that in 15 TV brands that is because of a licensing deal with Roku. I also think Firestick is better personally, but the public seems to like Roku. Anyway - stock is up 11 points right now.
I had 148 calls, which I sold close to the open.
I totally missed YELP and Match, though. Both were very impressive gains on Earnings. Once again, if you have access to after hours buying you can catch a lot of these before they go up. Most margin accts have after hours trading.
I bought into Dropbox and have been making money already, and they report after hours today.
IMO the only long term hope I see is their ad business they are working on. If they can nail that and roku becomes like a sling/netflix of sorts they could kill it. Otherwise I can see it going the way of fitbit and gopro and all those replaceable tech companies.
