Merry Christmas, Investors!

TODAY ONLY - these are the guidelines for Economics forums posting:

1. City Data TOS and Economics forums posting guidelines apply with one exception - partisan politics are permitted IN THIS THREAD ONLY. No copyright violations - use your own words and post links only to pictures you don’t own.

2. Got a deliciously insulting comment to make about a news agency or previous, current or future administration figure? Go ahead and post it in this thread (NO calls for violence/death). If you find yourself typing it at another thread, just copy/paste it in this one instead for instant satisfaction and no deletion or infraction!

3. This time of year and this day can be difficult for many people. You never know what the person at the other keyboard is going through - and how your words affect them. Be mindful of this; BE KIND to your fellow-posters. No personal attacks in this or any thread at Economics forums.

==================

A couple examples to get you started...

The markets wouldn’t be in this situation today if it weren’t for that smug, foreign-born socialist and apologist.

OR

Did you see what that short-fingered vulgarian tweeted about the economy just now? Idiot!

Combine the two examples into a fictional ultimate worst case and think how much worse it could be! Like so:

The markets wouldn’t be in this situation today if it weren’t for that short-fingered, smug, foreign-born socialist vulgarian apologist tweeting about the economy in MySpace just now.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

It's never a good feeling to lose money. Hopefully, some people will learn from this and become better "investors" in the future. First stop listening to the so-called market "experts" on the news outlets. If they are so good at predicting market future, shouldn't they be rich enough to not have to do what they do?

The market itself provides information useful enough to make sound decisions for yourself. Did you know that some bellwether stocks began declining almost a year ago? Since the US economy intertwines with the world economies, the slow downs that have been happening in China and Europe should have alerted investors here to be cautious.

It's reflection time. Take responsibility your losses. There is no one else to blame.

I'm thankful to be enjoying a nice morning with family as the Man Child-In-Chief is stewing all alone (according to his own tweets!) in the White House on Xmas Day. I hope my friends here are not sharing Tariff Man's fate today.

times like this, it's better not checking your account. It will just ruin your mood. Long Term investors, just hang on tight. You will be fine. i am talking 10+ years.

Any idea what someone with about 7-8 years left should do?

worse bear market is around 3-4 years, i say you are still okay with 7-8, however, it will take time to fully get the results of a bull market. that's why i mentioned 10 years.

If you have the worst luck of all time, and bought the worst time of history, it will take around 10 years to get to the next peak.

Merry Christmas to all.
I feel sorry for Trump. Everything he touches turns to crap.
But this is a wake up call this country needs. Loaning out cheap money to get people to buy stuff they can't afford is not how an economy should work.
The wall street casino is going to claim a few victims.

I've known a lot of people to make investment choices based on politics and/or religion. It's an efficient way to lose money.

Oh, is the sky falling again?

Seems like we went through a sky-is-falling event back in early 2009 and I didn't do anything other than buy a couple of stocks that I had been waiting upon for a drop in their share prices.

Back then I was averaging $250/month in dividend income; this year it will be over $1,400/month in dividend income. That's only a 21% average annual increase in my dividend income. Must be doing something wrong.

**Yawn**
