Who has some recommendation for their favorite software to track their investments? Ideally, I want to track all the individual holdings, but also each portfolio as a whole. For instance, I have an IRA with 12 individual investments. My wife has a 401k with 7 funds. Each of the kids 529 plans. You get the picture. So I want to track each portfolio, and preferably in an automatically updating program, that will go out to the net & get latest stock prices, splits, etc.

Whew! I'm sure you realize you have to have superb firewalls and security softwares to make certain your info, including s.s. number, aren't plucked from your databases...

Did you Google this? I got what look like some possibilities:

There may be nothing wrong with QUicken. I haven't used Quicken, and I'm looking for recommendations & opinions.

I use Microsoft Money. It works for me and I can do future "what if" planning.
I have the Deluxe version and I only upgrade every 2-3 years.

The last time I looked, Quicken was a single entry bookkeping system and shouldn't be used for any purpose. Greg the accountant

Quicken work great for me, and its double entry if you use it for all you money matters, Money comes in from 'sources' and goes out or tranferes from 'checking' your main core account to your other investmernts accounts (both ways). If you use it for everything you get a real good idea of where you spend your money, and how you are doing, Most finanial companies (stocks, banks, CCards) have driect freeds into you quicken and will updated the data into the correct accounts with in quicken (99% of the time). Only problem ive had with quicken is when a stock does some weard split, spin off you may need to go in and and manualy update that entry.

I use MINT.com - problem is that the site can't access some of my accounts that have multiple layers of security, so I can't keep track of the entire portfolio. I do have my company's 401k though -
