It looks like the age of satellite radio may be coming to a sad end. I hate to see it because I have enjoyed it for 3 years but with this I don't think I will be paying another 12 months!

I don't miss it... it was an overprice subscription to radio... you know those "essentials" that people need and seem to think if they don't have it then its bringing down the middle class... I wonder what they are going to do with the satellite they have orbiting up there or maybe they have it on lease...

I've been wanting a 'TiVo for radio' for about 10 yrs (free of course... no need for a subscription), but a programmable recorder would be sweet, especially one with an SD card (like a Pogo 'radio-your-way', no longer available) and a car radio to play it)
Sirius will be seriously missed in some of my locales.

Plains of NE, WY, SD, KS, OK, TX, MT, ND
Alaska offshore fishing for a couple months / yr
I guess there are just not enough of us to fund this beast (at the level necessary to cover the 'costs' and executive compensation.)
too bad, where can I get 24/7 bluegrass? (I'm not moving to TN) I don't do 'humidity'
I'll miss satellite radio, as I drive in places w poor signals or station options. I dont understand why it isnt profitable, as most cars are coming with it as an option. Probably spending too much on programming and ads arent making as much...but the ads were supposed to be limited..that was part of the appeal.

It isn't profitable because:
1. The capital spend on infrastructure is huge
2. They are paying too much to celebrities in order to attract customers
3. They don't have enough advertising revenue
4. Not enough people like them enough to pay a monthly subscription

Chap 11 does not equal Chap 7.
Sat Radio has too good of a long term niche to go away, but it may be under new ownership or with changes. Plus if someone is willing to invest in their debt over the recession until 2012 when the satellites are paid off, they should have positive cash flow.
Made a quick $4200 on SIRI. Bought 30000 shares last Thursday at .06 sold this morning at .20.
They have alot of debt but I sure hope someone buys them. They should of not wasted there money on Howard Stern. Have not been without satelite radio since it came out.
