I am still looking into different parts of Jacksonville. Can you please give me some information on the Mandarin area-(elementary schools, apartments). When I visited Jacksonville, I had the opportunity to stay and check out the area, but I would like additional feedback. Thanks!

I have an eight year old. My girlfriend lives in the Mandarin area. I was there a few weeks ago, and enjoyed it. I'm looking for nice, affordable apartments, GOOD schools, safe area... I have a vehicle, so getting around will not be an issue. ~Thanks

Sounds great! Now on to the normally asked questions like where are you going to work? How comfortable are you with heavy traffic if your not working close by? I see you have an 8 year old ... so schools are important to you? Mandarin schools seem to get some respect here just not as much as St. Johns County schools, but they are also further out. What amenities are you looking for in an apt. 2 br 3 br 1 or 2 baths washer and dryer hook ups, 1st floor or upstairs flat or townhouse, pool and playground, workout area? A little more info would be great to narrow the responses down some.

Ok... I'm fine with heavy traffic. Schools are VERY important to me. I'm not sure where I'll be employed. Hopefully, it won't be too far from home and my daughters school (I'm really hoping). Apartment wise...atleast a 2 bedroom, one bathroom is fine (one and a half would be better!), I do not want to be on the first floor, would really love both a pool and fitness center, along with washer/dryer hook ups. Thanks!

Not sure if any decent apartments are in that price range in Mandarin. Maybe with that price point you would be better off looking for a room to let or a house to share situation.

If you're already local to the area, your best bet is to take a drive over there and see what's available to you in that price range. There are at least 6 different apartment communities right along Sunbeam Rd, not far from San Jose Blvd. I drive past them a few times every day.

Not quite San Jose and Sunbeam, but there are some apartments/condos on Old Kings Road just south of Baymeadows that may be in the price range. Coming from Baymeadows headed south, they're on the right about 1/2 mile down. Don't look at the ones on the left side of Old Kings.
