Other area's to consider in Duval county ... Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, historic Riverside/Avondale, San Marco, Ortega and many other area's depends on where you will be working and how much you care to invest in a new place.

Mandarin is a fine area with good schools, but there are better area's and there are also worse area's.

I currently live, work, and play, among other things, in Mandarin. Of my 20 years in Jacksonville, Mandarin has been my home for 75% of the time. I've been very pleased with this area and the people I've met and associate with. It's a convenient location within 20 minutes to nearly everything I need access to.

Live-Work-Play?

Living ther is fine, if you like the suburbs.

Working there is fine, if you lke the suburbs.

Playing there is fine, if a bowling alley and putt-putt golf are your idea of fun. Not that much in terms of entertainment, festiavas, nightlife, etc.

What exactly is a festiavas? Is it something you get from living downtown? BTW Springfield doesn't have bowling or putt-putt for fun, just disc golf and ....?

*Festivals.

(SPR fun stuff? Disc Golf, a variety of popular bars/lounges & live music venues, monthly neighborhood parties, frequent festivals, sports competitions, etc........and literally a 1-2 miles away from Downtown...ie, the sports complexes, arena, MOCA, main library events, Art Walk, a bunch of popular bars/clubs, the River, every kind of concerts and celebration you could think of).

Mandarin has more bars/lounges. And plenty of live music venues, comedy clubs, monthly neighborhood parties, sports competitions. Not sure about frequent festivals, though I am sure there are some. And Mandarin has a river also and a library with events. Plus its just a 15 minuter drive downtown to do MOCA and the sports complexes, arena, main library events, Art Walk, a bunch of popular bars/clubs, the River, every kind of concerts and celebration you could think of.

What does Mandarin have that Springfield doesn't ... large lawns and lot's of trees.

Excellent response! The majority of the "festivals" I notice in Mandarin are primarily hosted by local churches. They're usually seasonal or holiday-related. They generally draw some pretty good crowds, too. Maybe I should take a camera to one of them, so I have some pictures to post, like FSU813 does.
