I am looking to move to the area and found this map really helpful. Thought some others might also:
Hurricane surge: Most First Coast homes won't be insured | jacksonville.com

It didn't scare me off -- just showed me how much safer it is just west of the intercoastal waterway. (Probably common sense, but I'm from Virginia and a novice when it comes to hurricane knowledge!)

While I don't want to lessen the severity of those facts, the hurricane threat in JAX is severly overblown (no pun intended).

Basic geography, physics, and the rotation of the Earth make a direct hit in JAX very unlikely compared to places in southern Florida, the gulf side of FL, or farther up the East Coast even.
