Newspaper other than timesuion
Hi,
I want to change from the florida timesunion subscription to a different paper. I tried to subscribe to NY times but they will not deliver to my zip code.

What newspaper do you subscribe to? I am looking for the weekend edition. I also tried wsj but they don't do weekend editions!

Thanks.

You can get the New York Times at Starbucks. The New York Times also has an online version of their paper on their web site.

I get the Times-Union. I don't think there's any other paper in Jacksonville - the Times-Union is the only game in town (unfortunately for those of us looking for alternative views on the news, though there's also the Folio Weekly, which may as well count as a T-U alternative).

Some stores in Jax sell other newspapers such as the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (Sunday editions only).

Good luck, Amy_sk, but I'm not aware of many options for you.

Rumor has it that the TU's parent company is going bankrupt, so we might not have any weekend newspaper options eventually. The only growing newspapers are USA today and WSJ, and no weekend paper for either of them.

On the bright side, if you switch over to reading foxnews.com or cnn.com you'll be getting the same headlines a day earlier.

Other local papers are Jax Daily Record and Jacksonville Business Journal...neither of which provides a weekend edition.

Times Union just hired a consulting company that signals they may be headed for bankruptcy: Morris Publishing hires legal, financial counsel - Jacksonville Business Journal:

If they leave the market (which is not a given), perhaps another paper will take over the void.

There's nothing local other than the Times Union that I can think of. There are many you can receive by US Mail, but obviously not on a Sunday, and since they travel through the mail system, by the time you get the paper, it's full of old news. Our weekend reading, besides the Times Union, consists of all the weekly published newspapers that we receive and let sit until Sunday.

most major newspapers are in financial trouble with the NYTimes as the worst, they just borrowed a few hundred mil from a chinese investor with 16% interests!...and they are also the most biased newspaper in the country with too many journalist scandals to count, why would anyone desire to read that paper!?

Thank you all for your suggestions. It looks like i might have to go to the nearest starbucks or similar stores to get a newspaper other than TU.
I do go read news online throughout the day but reading it leisurely from a newspaper is so much more satisfying for me

I agree. I read the T/U every day, but I'm afraid it won't be around much longer. I need that hard copy in my hands, I don't like getting local news online.

For the first time in my adult life, I do not subscribe to a newspaper. I subscribed to the TU for the first three years that I lived here, but haven't gotten it for over a year now. It focuses on sports and uses the front page for local issues, most of which I heard about the night before. I check it almost daily online and go to Starbucks for my newspaper-fix on Sunday, when I can read the NY Times.

I miss not picking up my morning paper from the driveway each day to read with my hot cuppa Joe, but the TU has been dumbed down over the past three years and just doesn't do it for me.
