I graduated with an MA in Geography and Certificate in GIS. My GIS skills were last used three years and I now realize I should have marketed them more...I didn't because I found those courses extremely tough and lacked confidence in the subject.
In any event, I have not found work since graduation in 2010. I live in Northern Virginia. What I would like to do is get into a Government Contractor in any entry level role so I can eventually get sponsored for a security clearance and perhaps find more career related jobs in the future.
I wanted to know if for my location any of you could recommend:
1) Good staffing agencies that fill jobs for Government Contractors or Government Agencies
and
2) Good staffing agencies that might help find placement for a Geographer and GIS major
There are tons of staffing companies in the Northern Virginia and central Maryland area: SAIC, Mantech, Booz Allen Hamilton, Aerotek, CACI, TASC, and so on.
I have no idea if any of them offer GIS jobs. I do know that software engineering and closely related work seems to cover about 90% of the high-tech jobs around here... and everyone expects people to have a clearance, usually Top Secret... as if those just grow on trees.

Good luck.
Booz Allen Hamilton does staffing? I always thought they were government contractors.

They are and so is SAIC, CACI, and Mantech.
