I know I'm going to pass the background check with no trouble, so that's not a concern. I was in my last position for 13 years so I don't remember the process/time frame of the offer.

But recently I did multiple interviews with two LARGE companies (100,000 or more employees, multinational tech, etc) and both have started the background check process. Does this mean I should expect an offer from each of them?

I realize every company is different. But it seems like they wouldn't go through the trouble of a background check pre-offer if they weren't going to make an offer (I'm assuming they want to confirm I'll pass it before putting anything in writing).

Anyone have recent experience or work in HR for a big company?

As you noted, every company is different. It means you are a serious candidate; don't read anything into it after that. Some places do background checks on the top candidates and make their selection after that.

I had a background ,credit and personality test no got flown to HQ. Needless to say, 5 months later I learned I didn't get the job. Craziest hiring process, and longest. You never know what will happen. I thinks obviously it means your a serious contender. Good luck!
