Umm to be honest I don't really like gates that much!!
But the fact is there the only BBQ place I know of to stay open till midnight daily.. so I'd like to
know what's
passable /ediable.. there.. I tried there ribs today.. and ahh.. not sure I'd give that a pass..
Is it just like chopped beef on a bun and fries? Is that their best dish..?

I'm not a big fan (of their BBQ, their sauce is second only to Bryant's in terms of utter perfection), though the last couple times I've been their food has been better than I remembered it. I find their beef sausage exceptional. The beef sandwich is strong, too. Ribs are serviceable. Their brunt ends are garbage.

Just buy the sauce and call the rest a loss. I've never found anything I've liked at Gates, and I've never had anything but terrible service at the one on Main when the family insists we go. We usually stick with Jack Stacks or Joe's KC.
