I have just recently bought tickets for a concert at Uptown Theater, and I heard that this isn't a very safe place? I am just wondering if that is true.
I have been to a couple concerts in KC MO at the Sprint Center and I didn't think twice about being there at night, but I haven't ever been to this part of town. I probably won't stay in this area (I didn't see many hotel options) but just for the sake of walking around, is it relatively similar to The Power and Light District, as far as safety goes?

The Uptown is a popular venue and the surrounding area has become increasingly vibrant with bars, restaurants, hookah places, etc. Broadway is a fairly busy avenue. I have several friends that live within 2-3 blocks from the Uptown and enjoy the area and generally feel safe. I would feel safe walking around alone at night along Broadway.

This. Totally safe. Just don't get wasted and wonder off into some dark alley alone and you will be fine.

TOTALLY SAFE? You do a disservice. keep your eyes open and your head up is my advice. Even the Plaza, the "premiere" shopping area has developed problems - much of it due to the underlying tension between races in K.C. which have been in existent a long time and under obama have gotten worse. It's not the WORST area but it is not TOTALLY SAFE.

I think Broadway and Main are dumpy in that area, but it never stopped me from going to the Uptown.
