Single person with pets moving to Kansas City for a new job. The job is information technology work and shift work so quiet during the daytime is imperative. The job location is northeast of downtown and the desired options to live are between Crossroads and Plaza to limit the commute to 15-20 minutes and increase the options for a life outside of work. Open to other walkable areas. The carriage house / garage apartment options would be good rental options due to the increased privacy without neighbors up or down without the increased costs associated with a home. 20 years in a private residence so unclear on the issues with apartments or condos related to quiet.

Seeking guidance on the better options in Kansas City between Crossroads and Plaza for a quiet residence. A visit last weekend and endless searching online resulted in apartments and condos and lofts but few garage apartments or homes for rent. The budget is $1250. Thank you.

What sources are you using for your search?

I would focus on the West Plaza and Volker neighborhoods. You can often find small bungalow homes for rent in your price range.

Here are a couple I found on Zillow that look like they could possibly be good fits:

4515 Genessee St, Kansas City, MO 64111 | Zillow

1718 W 35th St, Kansas City, MO 64111 | Zillow

Thank you for the information. Sources include homes.com, Craigslist, realtor.com, Zillow, Trulia, hotpads, etc... Timing is everything. Offer not yet final (federal job). The Longfellow / Dutch Hill will be explored further due to the shorter commute.

Insight into the noise level of the two and three story stacked duplex homes?
