In 1992-93 I was stationed at Whiteman AFB. We always travelled to the Warrenburg area for most of our enjoyment plus Sonic, other fast food,etc... There was one block that had all the night clubs there, does it still exist? And what are the names of the existing places that have been there for a while? We also hit the strip clubs occasionally nearby(Showtime)?

Pine Street.

Fitter's & Bodie's are still the same, but damn near everywhere else has changed names or ownership - Fitter's is in a new building, towards the middle of the block...the Opera House isn't there anymore - now, they rent out the lofts above the place...

other than that, nothing's changed. But of drunk-asses stumbling from bar to bar. And I know I used to be one of them.

Was there one called Paradise?

Oh, maybe...but I went to college there from 1999-2003, so our time spent on Pine St. would have been different...my stepmom was in school then, though...

why - you plan on going back to relive old glories? lol...

Probably not but it's always nice to know that when you had a good time somewhere ,that the business is still there. Kind of like a sense of relief. The place I met my wife in NY is gone and it's sad when that happens.

I hear ya...I met my wife at a bar in Denver...don't even remember the name of the place, but, hey...we were all at Red Rocks the next day, so...

But even if "Paradise" isn't there, the building is, and it is still a bar - the atmosphere is the same, etc.

Promise.

I'm a recent graduate from the university there.

Yes, Pine Street is the place with all the bars on it. It still gets pretty packed on the first Thursday after school starts and on other drinking holidays, but it's really not how it used to be.

A couple years back, there was a big fight in one of the clubs on that street. Since then, they have cracked down on enforcing ordinances relating to people under 21 in the bars, the noise level on the street and the capacity of the bars. They've been quite strict about it and shut down one place because of it.

Perhaps for a good reason, but it's put a damper on the whole thing and it hasn't been the same since.

PS - 'Showtime' is now 'The Playhouse'. It's not as fun as Showtime was. There's some superior clubs 10 or so minutes west on Highway 50 though.
