I went to the Kansas City Museum tonight for an event with my girls and had a chance to really drive through the neighborhood. I must say I have a different impression than I once had. People have really invested in the neighborhood and when you are in the northern parts near Gladstone Avenue it feels nothing like it once felt. I have to give it another chance. I would really recommend the neighborhood for someone who wants to invest in an older house and who loves living in the urban core. I would really consider the neigborhood if their were better charter schools and more shopping in the area.

Has anyone else been in the Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood lately? What did you think?

I agree completely.

There are many nice spots in the Northeast (among some not so nice). I think the area gets a bad rap as a whole that is not completely deserved.

I have been considering buying in area myself.

I fell in love with Gladstone when I was there scoping out the city a few weeks ago. But it only has a walkscore of 32, and Midtown gives me homes with walkscores of 74+... so if we plant there, it will be Midtown.

yes, i would not consider the Northeast walkable. The neighborhood changes too much from street to street. But the houses are awesome and it's not as scary as I once thought.
