"In a newly released report, Panasonic says it will invest several billion dollars in a second U.S. electric vehicle battery factory in Kansas"

I read about the issue with how much water they will use (think KS drought), and the chemicals that will go into the air, etc. They claim the average wage will be $50,000 a year, but frankly, we know most of that average is going to management, thus the wages won't be that high, and this is in a higher cost of living area in the state. I'm thinking it is a good thing that KS manufacturers love illegal aliens, as most people will try to avoid a job in a battery factory. I also suspect the reason they chose KS is that not a lot of places were interested or wanting to give them $1 billion in tax relief.

Kelly probably thinks this will get her re-elected, but I wouldn't consider it the miracle it would take for that to happen.

Yes, I have "environmental concerns" along with the concern that what happened with the Amazon warehouse in Coffeyville, will happen in the area where this is being built.

"Of course, Panasonic didn’t select Kansas out of the goodness in its heart. The company is set to receive a massive incentive package worth up to $829.2 million, including a $500 million investment tax credit that stretches over five years and a $234 million payroll rebate paid over 10 years, among other sweeteners."

The article says it will create "UP TO" 4,000 jobs, which means probably less than 1/2 that many, and I am wondering who will want to do those jobs.

https://www.zippia.com/panasonic-cor...salary/kansas/

"The average Panasonic salary in Kansas is $52,178. Panasonic salaries range between $28,000 to $95,000 per year in Kansas. Panasonic Kansas based pay is lower than Panasonic's United States average salary of $62,067. The best-paying job in Kansas at Panasonic is vice president, business development, which pays an average of $136,924 annually."

So, by that I am guessing probably the lower end for those working in manufacturing, and more likely than not employ illegal aliens due to the nature of the work. Kansas has a wealth of illegal aliens that work at the manufacturing facilities.

They'll build it. Take all the incentives, and like Amazon in Coffeyville, KS, leave after the town has built up around it, and then all that supported the facility will go out of business, and the unemployment and resulting crime will be what is left.

I read about these factories, and they did not seem to be a blessing, but attractive to the more desperate areas due to pollutants that those that bring them in don't have to live with.
