Woodstone Deli and Poor Richard's both have very good steamed hoagies. Canteen has a wide variety of fresh, excellent sandwiches.

Rare Roast Beef, Lettuce, Mayo on Semolina Bread.

Want to make a contribution to the area? Find a local source which makes the bread fresh each day.

Good luck.

Wheeler Bagels in JC makes their bagels fresh in house each day. Though not a deli per say, they do offer sandwiches.

There isn't a bagel in the TriCities that compares to Bagel Exchange in Kingsport.

Unfortunately the only fresh bread I know of is made at Panera, which IMO is less than ideal.

The area needs a Chicago style hot dog place, a place that makes real Philly Cheese-steaks, and an honest to goodness bakery/deli combo.

My favorite sandwich is pork BBQ at Ridgewood. No shortage of good BBQ around here.

Pretty sure the Mennonite bulk foods store on the 107 Highway in Greene County carries fresh breads made by folks in the community.

My favorite always available is:

Roast Beef on white bread.
Pepper Jack Cheese
Extra mayo.
Lettuce
Tomato
Onion
Pickles
Salt
Pepper
Oregano

Cut in half served cold.

What my area doesn't offer:

Blackened Grouper Sandwich
Nothing extra - that by itself is heavenly...
