Our table of 7 ordered everything from the chicken & dumplings, to chicken fingers, to the pulled pork plate (and other things I forgot) and I didnt hear any complaints. Will be going back on the next vacation to PF :>)
I LOVE THAT PLACE!!!

It's ok to share here...and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I hope you went to the little store next door and got some penny candy!! My husband and I practically fought over the bag as we were driving back to Sevierville after we stopped there....it's the candy I used to save up Pepsi and Coke bottles for, to cash in at the corner store. LOL! And of course, we had to buy a jar of apple butter at Carver's store, which I think lasted about 2 weeks.

I have to say, I swear the chicken and dumplin's they have taste just like my great-grandma's. And she was a pure Southern woman, grew up in Charleston. Boy could she make gravy!

I'm happy you enjoyed it! Thank you for sharing it here...I think I'm going to talk to my hubby about going to Carver's on Sunday after Church. It will be an easy sell I do believe..... LOL!!!

No, MrsMopar, unfortunately we didn't even see the candy store :-( ... surprising since we had kids with us! We did walk thru the fruit warehouse and saw all the fresh goodies. Reminded me of a similar fruit farm in the mid-late 70's near where I grew up (close to Canfield, Ohio). Will definitely be going back next trip up to the Smokeys...

Well see, now you have an excuse to come back to visit us here in the Smokies!

It's a little shop that is just across from the barn, I believe it says homemade crafts or something like that. It doesn't say it has candy, but trust me, it does! They have all kinds of locally made items, like quilts and artwork, but in the center of the store is the candy. You just pick it up and place in your bag as you go. We probably went a bit overboard but we were reliving our past...it wasn't about the cost, it was about the memories.

Canfield...isn't that near Youngstown? I'm originally from Dayton, born in northern Ohio but lived majority of my life in and around Dayton.

Thanks for sharing your story. I'm glad you and your family enjoyed your time here and that you will be coming back!

Yes, Canfield is just outside the Y-town area. I was born in Youngstown and grew up there and in Salem, Oh and left in 1986 for an AF career... have only been back to visit family & friends. Now that you mention the small building across from the barn, I recall seeing it but for whatever reason we didn't mosey that way. Several went to find a bathroom... and several wandered off into the barn. Will check it out next time, for sure.

The latest issue of Metro Pulse (available for free in grocery stores and in newspaper boxes around town) includes an issue of YUMMM! It's their quarterly review and listing of area restaurants. For those who arent familiar with the local dining scene, looking for a new restaurant to try, or believe Knoxville is all chains, should pick up a copy. It's a valuable resource for those living in/around Knoxville.

Im going to have to get a copy of this, I ate at yet another nasty Mexican restaurant today. I just cannot find many decent Mexican eats. We have good BBQ, we've got good steak houses, we've got respectable Chinese food but good Mexican food is just not easy to find.

For decent bbq, try M & M Catering. I've found it to be one of the best in the area.

DanielJ, can you please message me the name of the nasty Mexican? I want to avoid!
