We plan to make several visits before leaving the Washington, DC area (2016) just to get a feel for the what Knoxville has to offer. We were there about 20 years ago when eldest son ran track at the University and we fell in love with the city and the people and the pace. Thank you for share.
Our city has changed a LOT in the past 20 years, in fact in the past five. All for the better, too.

Following are a few pictures of the Museum of Appalachia near Clinton Tn. I found this place to be very interesting.

My 1st post!
I had to upvote Richards pics from the museum. The 1st and 3rd pictures there are of the cane mill where my brother in law (and sometimes myself) make molasses. The 2nd picture of the sheep, those are his sheep. My wife and I have spent many a day at that museum and it is a great day trip for a family. It has a large crowd but in the fall it has a homecoming celebration and is filled with locals who exhibit arts and crafts the 'old fashioned' way including our family who makes molasses.

Other things to do in the Knoxville area are to get out on a lake and rent a pontoon boat for the family. Nothing beats a day on the lake with your children. You can do watersports, fishing and have a fantastic picnic surrounded by some beautiful scenery.

Great post, great feedback, great tips! Nice to have a new face here, someone else that loves the area as well. Oh, and thank you for your service to us and our country!

We went to see Jersey Boys last night at the Tennessee Theatre. All I can say is WOW! This is one of the best touring productions I have seen. The actors were incredible and their portrayal of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons was spot on. The set and lighting was also very high tech and the sound was excellent.

Over all this production matches anything I have seen in New York and if you have a chance to see it, it is definitely worth the price. Speaking of, I bought the limited view tickets for $39 each, and they weren’t that bad. I could see everything except what was happening towards the back of the stage on my side, but I could see all of the main action and I could hear everything just fine.

The show runs through Sunday at the Tennessee Theatre which is worth the price of admission in it’s self.

A quick reminder: Vestival is tomorrow (saturday) from 11-7. Rain or Shine. $5 admission. At the Candoro Marble building - 681 Maryville Pike 37920. The featured exhibit in the gallery this year is quilts.

One of the music stages is in the garage area so there will be plenty of dry seating.
