I graduated from Carson-Newman College (a Baptist-affiliated Liberal Arts college)in Jefferson City, TN (close to Knoxville). When I attended (late eighties), the college students were very into Christian rock music and many were music majors and loved to sing. I can see a Christian music/karoake/coffee house doing very well in that area if you can get the college students there.

I am into it and I am an older adult that is single and a christian with nowhere to go evenings......I prefer something safe and love hanging out at coffee houses. I have been thinking about doing the same thing but don't have the space to do it in. Mine would be slightly different I wouldn't have karaoke, this would be in Maryville though.

Would Also Like To Be Involved In Assisting In The Teen Chalenge Programs In The Area. We Will Most Likely Have To Buy A Building Outside Of Knoxville Area Due To Getting Enought Space For The Amount We Can Afford, plus All The Expence Of Equipment And Materials. We Have A Couple In Mind, but Hope To Have A Building By June, and Open By The Next June Of "09" Or Close To That Date.if God Wants It To Happen,i Believe It Will

No.

Knox, maybe, but I doubt Kingston or Rockwood would support that kind of business. They are far too small.

I am assuming you are talking profit making. I would suggest looking at something a lot closer to UT. You should also consider sound levels. Rock music every night doesn't go over well in small, quiet towns, even if it is the Christian variety.

There are several of these in Knoxville. Check out Metro Pulse. I doubt that students would drive past those to get to you.

I BELIEVE YOU ARE RIGHT IN SAYING THAT WE WOULD NOT GET MUCH IN THE WAY OF KNOXVILLE TRAFFIC,BUT I WAS THINKING THAT IN ROANE COUNTY,THERE ISNT MUCH FOR THE TEENS AND YOUNG ADULTS VERY CLOSE,I WAS THINKING THAT FOR A SPECIAL CONCERT ,IF ADVERTISED WELL MAY DRAW FROM OUTSIDE THE AREA. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS SEVERAL SMALL SATALITE COLLEGE CAMPUSES IN THE AREA. AND AS THE FUEL COSTS INCREASE,PEOPLE MAY WISH TO STAY CLOSER TO THEIR COMMUNITY ?

I live in Rockwood and i think that is a great idea,we had something like that years ago in the old theatre downtown,Preacher Mull and his wife held big concerts there and brought in popular gospel groups, such as the McKameys, the Spencers, among others. We need something in this town for all ages.Talk to Dudley Evans,he has a great gospel group himself.

We were thinking about doing something similar at our church here in Az. It would be free as a way to reach out into the community. Do you have any advice you could share? Thank you.
