Hi, we just recently relocated to Knoxville from Louisiana and we absolutely love it here...except for one thing. I am having a really difficult time landing a job in Human Resources. I have my Masters in HR and I am certified but not tons of experience. I do the whole monster and careerbuilder thing but nothing so far. Any job search tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Go to an employment agency/recruiter. That is how a lot of your type jobs and others are hired through. Snelling and Randstad are two I can think of off the top of my head.
Hope that helps.

That is an EXCELLENT piece of advice. I have a close friend who moved to Knoxville from DC. She also wanted a job in HR. She hooked up with a temp agency (I believe it was Randstad) and after a couple of temp jobs she ended up being hired permanently at a major employer in town and eventually moved up the ranks and is now head of HR at the company HQ in Atlanta. She travels all over the world (business class!), and it all started from a simple temp agency job here in Knoxville.

Thanks so much for your advice. I tried a temp agency (it wasn't the ones suggested) here in Knoxville but didn't have much success. I will definitely look into the two that were suggested. Thanks again!

Please let us know how it goes! I would hate to be making suggestions that don't work.

Check out the University of Tennessee. I'm not sure if they have any positions open in HR specifically, but I do know Career Services is hiring a couple of coordinators. I work at UT and recall seeing that position open in the last job posting. The benefits at UT are fantastic especially if you have children.

Good luck.

I work for Cariten Healthcare in Knoxville, and our Sr. HR Specialist will be leaving a week or so to pursue another career. I know for sure that they will need to fill her spot asap.

The job isn't posted yet, but I'm sure that it will be by the end of the month.

How are they to work for, and are they Commercial, Medicare and Medicaid?

Thanks and blessings, Shen
