Hi everyone! We are relocating from MI to the Knoxville area.[
I am looking for a city that has low crime, great schools and is affordable. Could you please suggest an area or tell me the major differences between Maryville and Lenoir City, or your feelings on both areas in general….

My husband will be working in the Kingston area, and we have two small children.

[ANY help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks![/font]

All I can say is that my wife and I live just north of Lenoir City (off of 321, north of 70, off of Parkway Dr) and we love it.

Shiny Side Up!
Bill

Oh my. Maryville to Kingston would be one long commute! I love Maryville but don't think I would want my husband to have to spend that much time commuting.

I agree..Maryville to Kingston would be a crazy long commute...Doesn't seem like a bad drive on paper,But once you throw in all the traffic,It can literally take you almost 2 hours to get from Maryville to Kingston...Lenoir City would be probably the better place to live if he's gonna be working in Kingston...I would say live in Harriman,But Roane County as a whole is pretty corrupt..Govt and people wise...Don't get me wrong tho,There is still some nice friendly people that live in Roane County,But this past week alone there has been atleast 3 or 4 home break ins reported in Roane Co. And not to mention all the meth heads there as well...So overall my pick would be LC

Lenior city will be the best choice and even west Knoxville, would put you only 30 minutes to Kingston. Best advise, tour all the areas, and get a feel and then you can make the best decision. Schools in Knox probably rate a little better, and al type of areas to choose from . good luck.

Home break-ins occur everywhere, not just in Roane County, and they happen frequently in other places as well. And Meth addicts? The same could be said of that problem as well. Politics also. I am sure the people of Roane County would take umbrage with your assertions/generalizations about being corrupt, especially since you don't even live in that county, if I am not mistaken.

No i don't live in Roane Co and i'm glad...Not all of Roane Co is bad...But the politics and the Govt officals there are...Its slowly becoming how Newport and Cocke Co was back in the day...With the TVA ash spill there,That sure hasn't helped Roane Co rep any...I mean seriously,Where else can two brothers kill a cop and his friend and claim self defense and get off with just probation...I can tell you anywhere else in Tn,You kill a cop,They won't be no claiming it was self defense cause the courts won't buy it...Roane Co. is alot like Cocke Co. some areas good and some run down and trashy...I've known people who lived there and hated it...Far as schools goes there...Midway is a pretty decent school in Roane Co....It ranks the highest if i'm not mistaken

That is absurd to be candid, the two are absolutely not alike, and the residents of Roane County probably wouldn't want you as a resident either. Some areas good and some trashy? Where in most reasonably diverse areas of the country is that not the case?
