I'm an NMSU student, and I'm thinking of getting my driver's license soon. I have no experience driving a car, so I'm wondering how can I prepare myself for the written exam and the road test as part of getting my license.
As I understand it, it's actually quite difficult for people older than 18 to get licenses versus their still-in-high-school cohort (relative of mine in the same boat had to go through a lot more paperwork than you'd imagine).
The road test is by far the easiest part of the process; the written test is pretty easy as well. Things you wouldn't expect like getting the right forms sent to the right places with the right credentials and information, the right classes, eye exam, etc. tend to be the hardest parts.
It's really interesting to hear so many people railing against illegal aliens with driver's licenses when they don't realize just how difficult the system has been made to get through for legal residents over 18.
(on the subject of illegals with licenses, I find it amazing that people would rather the state not test and certify any people to operate a motor vehicle, rather than keeping track of them- it's not like they won't be driving on our streets regardless).
Contact a driving school. My sisters used LTD and I used another one (now out of business). LTD is located on Solano near Madrid, so someone will have to drive you or you'll have to take the bus.
