Can anyone tell me how much schools pay for their substitue teachers in the Las Cruces area?
Are they in demand?

Thanks,
Lou

Whoa!

Too many retirees to be subs??

That is terrible pay.

Here in the rural Midwest sub pay ranges from $85-$95 daily. Long term subs fall into the contract and get much more.

Is this reflective of pay for other jobs in the area?

From reading this site I have learned that in general the pay is less here than many other places. My husband's hourly rate went up quite a bit from his job in MA, so it's not true across the board. The job I had (and lasted all of 2 months) paid a little more as well as the one I had in MA.

The SW is not known for it's very high pay. You have to consider state and property taxes and also the much lower utilities bills because we don't need much heat nor air conditioning.
