My husband has a possible job offer in Vegas. If we get it, we will be moving out there and my son will finish 3rd grade there. What is the time frame for your school year? from when to when? Also, (I know you all are sick of this question and forgive me for asking but I will ..lol)... - we are interested in a good school area. My son has mild autism and is currently in an inclusion class. He is very bright and loves school. Anyone love their kids school and recommends it? It would have to be a good area where middle school and high school are considered good as well..
On a different and off the track question- what are the big grocery stores out there and do they double? I love my coupons
Another question- my husband lived out there in the 80's and said Henderson was the place to live. Now when he went out for an interview a month ago (stayed in Henderson) he said he must have not been in the better part of Henderson. Summerlin looks nice? Any other suggestion? Is there also anything out there like a backyard? We have 2 beagles that would be coming with us and need a little yard. (of course my son wants a pool)..
Thank you for your time and reading this novel. Any questions answered would be so much appreciated..

Tina

My son starts school on Monday the 30th. He will be attending the brand new Wallin Elementary. I have heard schools are not that great and this will be our first experience with a Vegas school. I think the school year ends either the first or second week of June. We are zoned for Del Webb middle school, and Coronado High school. I know they just rezoned certain areas though. I heard Frank Lamping is a very good school.

The big grocery stores are Albertsons($$), Vons, Smiths, Fresh and Easy Market. I may be leaving some out because I just moved to the area about two months ago and do my grocery shopping on base. I don't think any of the grocery stores double but I could be wrong. I know alot of people just shop at Walmart for their groceries.

We live in Henderson in Anthem Highlands which is a nice area. We primarily looked in Anthem,Seven Hills and Southern Highlands which were all nice. If I remember correctly, Southern Highlands had some older homes but I could be mistaken since we looked at so many houses.

I drove through Summerlin and it looked really nice but don't have much feedback regarding it. I heard good things about Centennial Hills and Aliante in the Northwest. All of the homes we looked at had backyards. If the house was built in the "boom" I think they were built on top of each other so the yards were small. We only saw one large backyard and that was due to it being zoned for horses. Most of the backyards we saw were small but none I would consider tiny, but we looked at homes with a backyard that was over 6000 square feet when we were looking.

If you want to use realtor dot com you can search on a specific area of Henderson if you want to see what is for sale. The info on the site isn't accurate because alot of houses are already under contract but at least you can see what you can get for your money. I would also check out greatschools dot org for info on schools.
