"The 3.65 million travelers who passed through the airport marked a 5.1 percent improvement over the same month last year. This coincides with rising visitor counts, particularly for conventions and trade shows, and airlines adding Las Vegas flights to their schedules after three years of cuts"

With projected schedules for the second half of the year showing monthly seat counts about 5 percent higher than in 2010, the foundation has been laid for a continued upswing in passengers, a critical component of the resort-oriented economy.

Now, if the tourists would just spend all of their, I mean more.... of their money if they come to say hello, lol. As long as they have a good time, that's the important thing..

MomMom - here's my outside perspective. The economy has been bad for a long time - 4 1/2 - 2 1/2 years depending on where you're at in the world.

While things aren't much better off today than they were a few years back, people have put off and put off and put off. After four years of being bored, it's time to have a little fun. Unfortunately for Las Vegas, they do mean "a little." People are spending less on their visits, but hey, things are looking up.

I was there in May, and I spent some money, too. But I won most of it back. So overall, I guess I didn't help your economy very much.

I did have a good time, though.

More than that, you spent money on food, transportation, sales tax and maybe spa services etc. You presumably tipped employees - you did put money into the NV economy. However, the casinos know in the long run, variance is on their side.

And not only that, over the past 15+ years, and 40 or 50 trips I've made to Las Vegas, I've dumped a lot of money into your economy.

This weekend coming up is going to be a doozy on the Strip with that Electric Daisy Carnival over at the Speedway...numbers all across the board should be up this weekend alone...

I always get a kick out of my relatives, who after 3 decades of visiting me here, never get enough or get tired of anything LV has to offer. And yeah, they make plenty of "donations" to the local economy too, lol.

As a matter of fact...I contributed to the local economy the other day when I went to the Big Dollar Store on Oakey/Rainbow. They got slots in there...and it was so cool and pleasant in the store...and I donated to LV for about 15 minutes or so

I don't think those kids who are attending the Electric Daisy Carnival have any money to spend in the first place. They probably had to pool their money for gas to get here and put 10 people in a hotel room to afford it. Any money they do have they're saving to spend on e.
