Any experts out there? Is the field vastly oversupplied? How tough is it to get in the door?

Just something I have been thinking about. I have a lot of computer/switch/router/network experience but nothing specifically on slot machines. I understand the electronics and basic things like ESD and how to switch out a card, run diagnostics, etc.

Where is a good place to go to start?

With 15 percent unemplyment, it is tough to get any jobs!!! Most hotel jobs are part time so the casino owners don't have to pay benefits.

Not that hard to get once you get in the door as its always an in demand position in every gaming market, but could be one of those situations where you need experience to get a job, but can't find a job to start out. Pay isn't great either, they are looked at as sort of in person help desk type employees.

Not allot of demand right now. There are lots of qualified techs out of work since the MGM/ Harrah’s cutbacks that happened in 08/09. You can go to school or start as a entry level tech if you can find a position. Regular skilled slots techs make around $30 an hour. The job can be physically demanding when slot bank machine moves are needed. Slot technical advisors and analysts earn from 60 to 100K a year.

Thanks everyone.

I think that's a job I would be good at and I have the electronics background for it.

What are the best places to apply? Who is most likely to give me a shot at it?

Part time is fine....very willing to start at the rock bottom.
