I am from San Jose,CA and I hate it here for many reasons. In 2009 me and my friend moved to LV to try it out.It was the greatest 3 months of my life.I quit drinking, got a girlfriend right away, and was happy everyday. The problem was my friend hated it there and forced me to come back to this hell hole San Jose.I am currently unemployed, depressed, and drinking again.I envy all of you who live there and hope to return someday.

No, I didn't even go to the strip or casinos ever.I just liked the city outside of the strip.Like I said I quit drinking while I was there, so I wasn't partying at all.

Sounds like you're letting others run your life instead of being self-determined and taking responsibility for your own situations. Look up responsibility and self-determined in the dictionary ...really ...do it now. Then ask yourself what part of all this are you willing to take responsibility for. The answer might surprise you. Might change your life too.

How could the "friend" (which obviously he/she isn't really) MAKE you go back to where you don't want to be? And how are your bad habits someone else's responsibility?

Never get all bound up in blame - shame- and regret. Take Nike's advice and just do it...whatever "it" is. You can always do something about it, right or wrong, but it is always wrong to do nothing about it.

It's nice to have others to back you up, but anything you do in life is on you, so don't put them in charge of you. You want to be in Las Vegas? Then come to Las Vegas.

I'm not blaming anybody except myself.I couldn't stay there because my friend was paying half the rent and as far as drinking I take full responsibility for that as well.I'm not really depressed or feeling sorry for myself.I was just emphasizing and over exaggerating my distaste for San Jose.

I moved from San Jose also, and I like living in Las Vegas more than San Jose for many reasons. I do miss the weather in San Jose and my close friends that still live there. I hope things work out for you and you. Good Luck.

Why couldn't you find a different roommate? Or move to a cheaper place to live on your own? Or have the girlfriend move in (assuming she's "the one")? I assume you left her in LV right? This is a weird story. The solutions to your problems seem pretty obvious to me, but maybe you're not telling the whole story.

I seriously do not understand this talk of being "stuck". If you have a family and your kids are rooted in their schools and communities, sure. But if you're single, how the heck can you be "stuck" anywhere? You can find ok places to live for $500-$700/mo in nearly any city in the US. Unless you're truly inept, making enough to at least scrape by for a while is doable. I'm with Buzz on this - you're only "stuck" if you make excuses and have no determination.
