Any mobile PC gurus out there? Came into the office this am to a blinking cursor. Reboot, manage to get to the boot menu and change the boot order to the HD, run diagnostics, everything checks out and then it reboots to blinking cursor. Can't get it to read a disk either.

Anyone have a recommendation or want to make a few bucks?

I use Las Vegas Geeks. 369-GEEK. They are a couple of local guys that know their stuff. Michael Cox x-111, and Adam Kerrigan x-113. Usually they fix it here in my house, but a couple of times Michael had to take it to his place.

I wonder who HE IS.....

Looks like your hard drive seized up, not spinning up to boot.
how old is the computer, is it a laptop?
can you put your ear to it and hear any noise?

That or the controller on the motherboard is bad or the actual mother board itself has issues. Also open up the computer and make sure the cables are snug and clean it out and make sure there is not a lot of dust to cause more heat. I've seen components fail because of too much dust.

Thanks, tried to rep in order of reply but couldnt after the first. I called the company Buzz suggested but they were booked until Monday. I talked to Adam, nice guy...I'll definately save their info for the next disaster.

I dont know WTF it was, but I could see the HD, but for some reason it was trying to boot from the A: drive and stopped there. I got into the configuration and changed it to the HD, no go. Loaded a vista disc, did system check and tried to fix the bootup but it kept erroring out. It wasnt seeing the OS.

I yanked the HD and put it in a docking system. I could see all my files so I backed everything up to the server. It wouldnt take a recovery disc or an upgrade...I had to go out and buy a full version of win 7. Istalled and now I'm trying to recover everything.

As far as Macs the only reason I'm not on them is some of the design software, i.e. SolidWorks wasnt available for MAC until last year. Eventually I'll convert over.

Appreciate the feedback/input.

I had a very good experience with Michael at Guru Enterprises:

GuruEnterprises.net - Mobile PC Repair - Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Nevada - 702-966-0773 (http://guruenterprises.net/default.aspx - broken link)

I like that he charges a flat rate, not an hourly rate, which could save you a lot if you have a very slow-running machine.
