My wife has jury duty, and reports at noon. I don't have to work today. So we thought we'd go downtown and have some shrimp cocktails.

I haven't been downtown in more than a year. Where's the best place to park these days? I heard Binion's no longer has a self-serv parking validation stamp near the cage.

Binions still does validation for 3 hours. After that I think it is $1.50/hr. They no longer have valet. The city's parking deck on the east end of Fremont Street Experience is one hour free, then like $1/hr up to $5. I always park at Binions. You can validate at the cage side that faces the sportsbook, or at where the old cage was over by the poker room and player's center. If you play poker, the poker room manager will give you a full day parking validation.

I usually valet at GN's Rush Tower. However, on occasion I've self-parked at Neonopolis when I go to the art museum there. The museum validates, but even if you don't go there, the Neonoplis parking garage is free for the first hour and then $1/hr to a $5 max.

If you're planning a longer stay downtown, don't want to pay the $1 an hour after the free validated hours and don't mind walking an extra five minutes, Main Street Station has a free parking garage and a large parking lot at Stewart and Main where you pay $3 to get in but you get the $3 back when you show your receipt at the casino cage.

Golden Nugget is 3 hour validation, you can try the Fitz, I remember you just had to have some eatery or shop in there validate your ticket and you got free parking.

The Fremont Experience garage is good to park in, but you gotta pay for it.

You can park in the outdoor surface lot of Main Street Casino, too.

I wish someone had mentioned Golden Gate ruined the shrimp cocktail thing they had going on. Now it's a sit-down diner. I don't WANT a sit-down diner. I want a shrimp cocktail, no menu, and sit in the back and look at the pictures of the old dead mobsters who used to run the joint.

Maybe Golden Gate's goal was to get rid of the once-a-year shrimp cocktail people, like me. If that's their goal, mission accomplished. I'll never be back.

Golden Gate is making lots of changes. Not for the better. It used to be our favorite place, now it isn't.
We also park at Main Street Station outside, and validate right away.

I always park at binons... validation, as stated, is on the backside of the cashier.

Most (all?) of the downtown casinos no longer valet park. I'm happy parking at Binions. I like Binions. It's high time I go to their steakhouse again. I always liked that place. I heard it isn't as good as it was five years ago when I was a regular guest. We'll see.
