I have been reading on the forum that Las Vegas is not exactly RV friendly.
We have a 20 ft Trailmanor that is hard sided but calapses down. So inside a 6ft. wall, it is not really visible. I don't see too many homes that have access for RV parking. I am not interested in going into the horse property areas in the SW. Would prefer something a little closer in. How difficult is it to find a home like this. Will it have to be a home without a HOA? Do any developments have any RV storage areas there?

Actually your wrong, I see one out of every 4 Homes (in My area, 89103), have RV parking, BUT not all of them have the water/sewer/electric at the Parking area.

On my block three houses have a RV gate.

There are too many to give you specific locations even if I knew all of them, but there are lots of homes all over Las Vegas that have a side yard large enough for an RV, and lots of people have created space for them by raising the fence/wall and putting in a wide gate. Many of them put in covered RV ports like very large carports. You see them everywhere. You would have a hard time finding an HOA that would allow them, but the guy next door to me got away with putting in a wide gate, and raising the wall (without my permission), then he never used it. Maybe he realized it would still be seen from my property and/or the street which is not allowed. The HOA tried to discourage him but allowed it based on this: that they'd have to see a vehicle behind the wall before deciding if it would pass muster.

BTW: there are "horsey" properties all over town too. East, west, north, south; and some of the best are right in the geographical center of Las Vegas.

Your best bet, as always, is to get a Realtor to look for homes with your requirements. Not as much fun as looking on your own, but buying without one is risky and irresponsible in my opinion. And by not knowing the area you would probably miss out on some great homes.

Every home in my community (89183) has an RV access gate and the HOA allows RV parking.

Many, and I mean lots, of homes have RV parking. Mine has a double gate and a large cement slab that could easily be used to park an RV. Every home in my subdivision has this.

Really depends on the area. Some areas have quite a bit of RV parking and RV friendly HOA's, some have a couple lots, some have nearly none (ala Green Valley Ranch). Some areas you have to block the RV from view of the street (with a tall gate for example), some you can park in your driveway.

Pretty much a home without an HOA you should have no problems parking an RV as long as it isn't on the street.

I will say that in most of the non-custom home areas I've looked at (GVR and Anthem) have very few, if any, homes with RV parking.

Check out Boulder City. Many of the newer homes out there have RV garages.

my home has RV parking and no HOAs. I am on a 9000 sq ft lot and home is 1800 sq ft. I live between the Lakes and Boca Park on the west side in 89117. Very nice neighborhood too!

Thanks guys for your help and recommendations. Yellowsnow: What development are you in and what zip is it in. Maybe my problem is my price point. I have been trying to keep it under $160,000. Been using Realtor.com

I'd like to know the name of the development in 89117 Vegastoabg that your in. If your lot is 9000 sq. ft, my price point is probably the problem. I like the location there, but I'm open to almost anywhere that is safe and well kept.

I find the zip code maps I have been using do not show all of the zip codes.
Is there a good all inclusive one?

My second option is a 3 car garage, but as I really don't want a large house, there are not too many smaller single level homes with 3 car garages.

Anyway, all assistance is appreciated. I don't want to get out there and be unrealistic with realtor as to what I would like.

Zip code map produced 4/4/12 by the City of Las Vegas but it encompasses the whole valley.
