Hi Everyone,

Im new here. Just had a quick question...

When I was growing up, my family and I used to visit a restaurant called "The Flame" on the strip. Near The Frontier Casino.

Does anyone know what happened to it? Someone had said it moved to the El Cortez but, Ive contacted them and they said they are not affiliated?

Can anyone give me more information? Has it relocated? Under another name?

Any help is appreciated!

Thank you,

One of the nicest Mob hangouts in town. They would bring around the steaks for you to choose from, then you watched them cook it. I think you're right Dyn. The DI super-art closed them down and they never opened a new location. Owners were probably old, since it had been there for so long. Ch-8 employees went into mourning.

I was on a jury for a murder trial of the ex-wife of a waiter that got whacked in the parking lot of the Flame. Strangest story I ever hoid. Trial was supposed to last three days, and went on for three weeks. Some day I'm gonna do a screen play on it. I am convinced that Tony Spilotro ordered the hit, and the ex had nothing to do with it. The guy had just told Tony the FBI wanted to question him about Tony ...so, duh. He had also worked at Villa d'Este where Tony's 'Hole in The Wall Gang' had valets making keys of peoples' homes so the gang could rob them while they et. He was always Tony's special waiter. He was from Columbia. And, yes, he sold drugs. He also shot couches inside their apartment. All around nice guy. Wouldn't harm a fly.

Then several years after the hit, the brother of the ex-wife's boyfriend went to jail for killing his own brother. It was probably an accident, but he was looking at hard time, so he made a deal to get out of jail. He told them that his brother and the dead guy's ex-wife, who lived together, done did the killin.

There was more twists and turns to that trial than any crime novel ever came up with. To name just a few, one of the prosecution's witnesses, claimed to have been a Colonel in the Army in Vietnam. Only problem was, he wasn't even alive during Vietnam. Between that and the brother's deal, and an eyewitness that said it wasn't her, she still only got a hung jury out of it because the jury wanted to convict her because she wasn't a nice girl. Very, very strange. Don't ever get in trouble with the law and expect a fair trial.

But, besides being a hangout for murders, drug dealers, and thieves, the Flame was a Las Vegas icon for many, many years.

Applejack, if it's any consolation, you probably rubbed elbows in the Flame with many a Mobster, entertainer, and Las Vegas mover and shaker, and didn't even know it.

Yes, they were known as Le Cozy Nostra.

Gave new meaning to the title "Made-Man".

Is it just me, or does our possible next president look like Bobby Bacala on The Sopranos? Not that I'd object to a "businessman" as prez that can make deals other countries can't refuse.
