I was there yesterday.

Food is ok, just ok.

They have variety of foods but taste is just ok.
It all look nice when you see it but as i said food doesn't taste right as you could expect it .

Price on their website says 25 $ but it is actually 27 $. They told me they changed price few days ago.

So my tought is if im going to spend more then 60$ for two i would definitely go to some other places.

Scoop, you need to investigate the local shrimp you didn't know about and tell us if they are worth it...

Yeah Scoop...this is a task for which you are clearly the best qualified.

And find out how we get at it if it is any good.

I wonder if they can do Mediterranean prawns...ala the Greek Cypriots...

Friends in town, hit this buffet twice in the last 3 days since they were staying at Caesar's...also hit The Wicked Spoon Friday night, one I had been waiting to try but haven't yet. As a big fan of buffets, here is my scoop:

The good:
Best of rack of lamb and meat section. Expensive T-Bone from the grill to the cutting board to your plate.
Fresh tasting king crab. NOT the twice frozen stuff at Bellagio.
Great dessert selection
Really good small finds here n there...the scalloped potatoes with truffles, the Chilean Sea bass. Peach green tea (have to ask for it). Mint watermelon sorbet to walk out with.
So much food you can't even try half of it.

The BAD:
My friends dined there 3 times during their stay. Service was erratic. First night great (they said), the first day I went it was so-so. Then tonite on Saturday, it was a mess, so bad we didn't even tip (which has never happened) Twice asked for coffee, it never came. Waited almost 10 minutes for someone to ask us for our drink order...plates weren't cleared...it seemed like 3 waiters were taking care of our table and it was like no one knew was to attend our table...total confusion.
The king crab, while good, was mixed with snow crab..if you want it cold, you can take what you want, but if you separate it out and ask them to heat it up, they mix it in a hot pot along with some snow crab and you get back a mixture of both. The snow crab is typical 9.95 Chinese buffet dinner quality. You can request only king crab and they'll try to work with you.

Overall: Being a weekly Vegas buffet diner and having tried nearly every buffet in town (probably 80-90 times a year of all variety). I have to put this one at the top #1 at the time being...The last one besides this on my to hit list, I also checked off this weekend was Aria's Wicked Spoon...for me, it really couldn't compete AT ALL...and that's a whole other write up (No king Crab, no rack of lamb, 3 molten lava cakes with no molten lava! (dried out))...we all wish we had gone back to Bachannal that night.

Go there NOW before they start making cutbacks to save money. They all do (Bellagio, Wynn, Paris, Studio B). In fact, they've already started to..there used to be Stone crab as many commented they had it on Yelp when this place first opened. All 3 days, there was no stone crab anywhere.

...also as for people who say the food is just ok, i'm curious as to what buffets they would put ahead of it when it comes to food quality. Price is steep, so yes, it's almost $100 for 2 people, but for quality factor, as of now, it has no rival in my opinion.

OK, I'll do so. I'm in a position to simply ask for the stuff and get a sample. Might take awhile, though.

But the best shrimp on Earth, hands down, bar none, are Key West Tortuga Pinks. There is no better. And you can usually find them at Sterling. That being said, it's better to just head to the Keys and get them at a local's joint. It's all about freshness.

I occasionally have a friend freeze some solid and 1-day them to me. But it's not the same as fresh right off the boat. Freezing shrimp makes them a little more "mealy."

Went to Caesar's a few weeks ago and thought it so bad, I, for the first time in my life, wrote a letter to the manager. With their apathetic attitude, they never replied. I love telling everyone how bad I think it was.

Price was closer to $40, being it was a weekend. The background music was turned to heavy rap and very loud. After a long wait to get in, even a longer wait for waiter to arrive and take drink order. Once that arrived, he never returned to ask if another was needed. Noticed once in the buffet line, the layout was very inconvenient. Had to reach between customer's legs for plates when the set up at the end of the line was without them. At the salad section, almost got an anatonomical upper body part in the dressing trying to reach some other necessary item.

The food was so passe. Normal prime rib comes with the outter section of meat, which is the most tender. This was just the tougher center. Mashed potatoes were so institutional, could not get them to drop off the spoon. Had to eat them plain; no gravy. Green beans were so el dente, they couldn't be cut without flying across the room. Shrimp cocktail so tough it could hardly be chewed. Nothing at all inspirational or unusual to set the menu apart. Salad section very boring. Met a woman complaining at the dessert station. She was right. Ordered a custom made crepe but the crepe maker kept burning them. Eventually she was able to produce one that in spite of me loading with blackberries and whipped cream, tasted like notebook paper. Ate the less I have eatten at a buffet and vowed to tell everyone what I encountered.

I have eatten at all the typical buffets here. Have nothing but good things to say about the Wicked Spoon at Cosmopolitan, the one at the Wynn, Bellagio's and particularly the M. Thoroughly enjoy those but feel I totally wasted my money at Caesars.

I don't care for buffet style dining. Kids love it. Some other people love it. I don't. In most of my experiences with buffets, it's been mediocre food and lots of it.

I don't eat very much, and when I do, I prefer my food to be delicious. That said, I have had a few buffet style meals that were very good. One at a convention being hosted at Pure, one at an Epicurian event at Aria, and one in Jamaica.

I have never been to the Sterling Brunch that Scoop recommends, or this buffet. It's just that buffets in general.. not for me. To each his own. If I want mediocre food, there are plenty of chains for that without dealing with the traffic on the strip.

I applaud their efforts at trying to raise the bar, and look forward to Scoop's review.

Just as a side note...

There is no need to deal with traffic on the Strip when going to Caesar's or to most any casino on the Strip. I'm at Strip casinos 3/4 times a week when I'm in town and I rarely drive on the Strip itself.

Yes, I know.

I don't like Caesars and I'm not particularly fond of our back roads, like Industrial.

I hope this buffet can rise to the hype they put out there. Not everyone is as fussy as I am. Many people might enjoy this buffet.

The cost for this has seriously increased? Now it is $65pp after tax and tip. That seems a bit over the top for a buffet! Is it still worth it?
