Scoop will probably know but I would think RO water would pretty much eliminate the buildup. Pretty straight forward. Little box under the Swamp cooler. Dump the drain into your pool. With RO you probably don't need any bleed water.

Actually, we do get a little scale. Our RO system is not industrial-strength RO. Pure H2O is corrosive -- it is used as a solvent. Not good at all for plumbing, washers, etc. Our total dissolved solids are very, very low. But they still accumulate in the swamp cooler. I just soak the pads in an acid solution every year when I clean up the system for fall.

I should have re worded that. The bleed off wont eliminate completely but if you didnt have one at all, your celdek pads would be solid concrete by the end of summer.
