I have an older Honda Accord EX- excellent shape. Anyone know of decent honest car lot to consign the car at? (I'm afraid they will rip off parts, or ??) I'm distrusting.

Recommendations? Do they keep like a 20%, or is it more like 50%. Should I just Craigslist it? Thoughts?

Thanks much,

Just put it on CL for $3k-5k more than you want for it. Expect a lot of emails, texts and calls trying to talk you down $3k-5k less than your asking price. Worked for me several times.

I had a friend list a $500 beater on CL. He still had people calling to offer $200-300. I'm pretty sure if he listed the car for $300, $150 offers would have come in.

Nobody expects to pay full asking price.

I didn't even know consignment is legal in Nevada. It is highly illegal in Ohio. How old is the car... even if it's legal, i doubt a dealership is going to consign an old vehicle.... Craigslist it... If you are talking a 1996 or so, you can get $2000-$3000 on craigslist if it has low miles...

And the difference between illegal and highly illegal is....?

Reading that reminded me of this scene in A Few Good Men:

simple, in Ohio as a dealer, if I took a consignment, the license is gone.... Ohio requires that every car on the lot be titled in the dealers name....and they check often.. sneak attacks..... Even after 18 years in the business, they still checked every quarter.

I am looking for the same. I have a '01 Mustang GT Convertible I am looking to sell and don't necessarily feel like dealing with Craigslist.

Why would consignment be illegal? As long as the dealer had physical possession of the car what's the harm?

I'm sure there are considerations I'm not seeing? Would love to hear what they are.

I see lot's openly advertising consignment (usually for high end/exotics) so, I assume it's legal in Clark County

Talk to Wally at Wally's Honda. He does a lot of consignment and everybody trusts him. It's the only place to go for Honda repairs. Wally was one of the "experts" on the Pawn Stars TV show. Honda / Acura Service Center
